An international outlook is part of the educational model of Universidad Europea de Madrid, in line with the philosophy of the European Higher Education Area and the demands of modern society, which has been revolutionized by globalization and internationalization. These two phenomena mean that any future graduate must be able to work in multicultural environments, and respect and adapt to the social conventions inherent to other cultures.

The Universidad Europea de Madrid belongs to the Laureate Education Inc. Network of International Universities and Graduate Training Centers

It also has Erasmus exchange agreements with a total of 177 European universities with places for 1104 students. UEM students can choose to move within the Laureate network or through the special agreements between UEM and certain universities in English-speaking countries.

Traditionally, and in previous editions of other UEM Master's Degrees, a certain number of students are from other countries. The Universidad Europea de Madrid has a student reception procedure to facilitate the movement of students inside and outside the Laureate Network.

Before international students arrive, they are provided with guidance by email or telephone. This guidance consists of providing information on the Spanish education system, the educational model of the university, aspects relating to academic formalities (subjects, credits, class schedules, etc.), and information about the city, accommodation options, transport, health care services, culture, etc. (in Spanish and English).

After foreign students have completed the academic formalities, they are welcomed to the university with special information sessions and a guided tour of the campus.

Academic support for these students is provided by the advisor, a professor who assists and guides them in all aspects of the learning program.

To encourage the fullest possible academic and cultural integration of these students, Spanish courses are offered in collaboration with the Cervantes Institute (with the option of obtaining the DELE Diploma in Spanish as a Foreign Language), free courses on the Spanish educational model, and the opportunity to attend many cultural and sports activities.

The International Relations Office holds regular meetings with the international heads of the different degree programs in order to prepare new agreements or increase student exchange places at the requested destinations. It also informs academic managers about universities expressing an interest in exchange agreements. The office is responsible for establishing contact with academic managers in foreign universities in order to sign agreements, define the number of places, and exchange information on the places, procedures and characteristics of the university.

Admissions Process

The admissions process for the programs of the Universidad Europea Real Madrid Graduate School usually takes place six months before the start of the course. During this period, all the candidate selection and registration processes will be completed, until the places are filled.

The two periods for starting the program will be October and May.

For personalized advice, students can go to our either of our campuses (Alcobendas or Villaviciosa de Odón), phone us on 902 04 06 63, or email us at where you will be attended by Graduate Admissions personnel. If calling from outside Spain, the phone number is (+34) 918 34 01 92.

Process and requirements

Before enrolling for the first time at the Universidad Europea, students are sent all the information they need on the entry and enrollment process, the course curriculum, academic fees and study grants. This information is available through the informational material of each degree, the admission regulations and the Master's Degree Teaching Guide, without prejudice to all the information shown on the website of Universidad Europea de Madrid and Universidad Europea Real Madrid Graduate School.

Students can ask to visit either of the University' campuses and to have personal interviews with Admissions personnel or with the directors of the Master's Degree.

Students enrolling for the first time at UEM follow the procedure established by the university, as follows:

  • Personalized advice
  • After the application with the documentation required for each case has been presented and verified by the admissions service, students will be invited for individual interviews with the professor in charge of the course they will take.
  • Universidad Europea de Madrid requires a personal interview before admission, and where applicable, evaluates the academic record, in order to assess elements relating to the academic and professional success of each student and detect their specific training needs.
  • During the interview there will be a non-selective English test, in line with the language skills required in each mode of study.
  • All students admitted after the selection process receive a letter from the university, informing them of admission to the degree program course for which they passed the entrance exam.
  • Formal reservation of a place and enrollment.

Following this process, the student will apply to the University's admissions department for admission to the Master's Degree in question. The application documentation will be sent to the department, which will check whether the student meets the requirements for entrance, if certain elements of their careers or academic records can be recognized, and if applicable, whether they can accredit the education needed to enter the relevant degree course.

The favorable report by the Director of the Master's Degree is sent to the University's Graduate Studies Committee which will issue admission to the relevant Master's Degree, for which the student will attend the interview established as the entry test, and if this is passed, enrollment in the Registrar's Office.

Admission to the Master's Degree will not alter in any way the academic or professional qualifications already held by the interested party, nor their recognition for purposes other than acceptance onto a Master's Degree course.

Transfer and recognition of credits:

In order to foster effective student mobility within Spain and abroad, the University, according to its internal regulations and the relevant legislation, will evaluate credits proposed for transfer and recognition, in view of the student's transcript and official academic documents referring to the official courses taken. This can be requested via the Universidad Europea de Madrid website.

For these purposes, a credit transfer means that the official accrediting documents of the courses taken by each student will include all the credits obtained on accredited courses previously taken in this or another university, which have not led to the subsequent qualification being awarded.

Also, credit recognition means that the University accepts credits which, having been obtained by the student in official studies, in this or in another university, for other official studies for the purposes of obtaining an accredited degree.

In accordance with the relevant legislation, private degrees from universities and accredited professional experience can also be recognized in the form of credits, and will count towards obtaining an accredited degree, provided that this experience relates to the competencies inherent in that degree, to a maximum of 15% of the credits making up the curriculum. In no case can a graduation project be recognized.

All the credits obtained by a student in accredited learning in any university, those transferred, recognized and passed to obtain the corresponding qualification, will be included on his/her transcript and reflected in the European Diploma Supplement.

Through the Graduate Committee, the University will evaluate the student's file, accredited qualifications, private degrees or professional experience, and depending on the course curriculum and specific subjects with equivalents in the competencies, content and dedication of the student, determine whether they can be recognized.

Information for enrolled students

Before the academic year officially begins, all the new students enrolled for the first academic year receive notification of the date, time and place of an introduction and welcome session for their degree course, attended by the directors of the Master's Degree and representatives of the school's senior academic directors and Academic Coordinator, who will give them useful information for beginning their university activities. Graduate students are continuously supported and monitored by the University through contact with the Student Affairs department, the Academic Coordinator and Academic Directors, and especially with the Directors of the Master's Degree, who act as personal mentors to the students throughout the course.

During the course, students are also kept informed on all the extracurricular activities going on in and around the University by email, the news forums of the Virtual Campus and the noticeboards on campus.

NetUEM: The aim of the Universidad Europea de Madrid is to boost the use of information and communication technologies on all its degree programs as a means of supporting and complementing teaching practice. The use of a Virtual Campus, developed on the Moodle platform as a complementary tool for working, increases the options for distributing knowledge and for communications between students and professors, making it easier to provide personalized attention and monitoring through virtual tutoring sessions, encouraging independent learning, enhancing student skills such as searching for and organizing information, planning and the capacity for debate.

The Online Campus is integrated into the UEM's academic management system, which means that all teachers who have uploaded courses to it have automatic access to a virtual space on the Moodle platform associated with each course. Also, every student enrolled in a degree program will be linked in with the courses they have signed up for on the Online Campus.

Using the Online Campus to provide students with documents in electronic format, to enable students to submit assignments in an organized and timely manner, to communicate with students on a particular course in a fast and efficient way and to carry out individual and group tasks (wikis, forums, chats, queries, etc.), enables teachers to perform their role in a fast and dynamic way and to establish an alternative means of communicating with students outside the classroom.

Throughout this process, teachers are provided with institutional support, with access to class-based and online training courses. Each faculty also has a mentor who can advise and help teachers with matters such as technical aspects of using the platform and adapting their subject matter to the virtual environment.

During their time in Madrid, students can use the classrooms, computer rooms and auditorium of the Alcobendas campus.
